In this case, the former is basically any marking she makes when she's using a pen/pencil. So, drawings or scribbles count as 笔迹 as well. 字迹 is specifically for words. Second, she fumbles over: 抄and模仿. The first is to transcribe, even to copy literally. The second is to imitate, or take the form of. While anyone would understand what she was saying even if she used the less accurate words, she still decides to try and use the more appropriate terms. It's pretty cute.
