The city is leveraging its role within the Greater Bay Area and China's Belt and Road Initiative, serving as a bridge between mainland China and international markets. To remain competitive, the Hong Kong SAR government is investing USD 15 billion annually in public works and prioritizing AI, robotics, and modular construction. Technologies like BIM, generative AI, automated inspections, and remote-operated cranes are being used to reduce design time by up to 70% and enhance construction quality and efficiency. Hong Kong is also pioneering ultra-high-strength steel, achieving up to 35% material savings, and promoting green building standards through the BEAM Plus system. With over 620 collaborative projects already using NEC contracts and no recorded disputes, the city is promoting harmony in project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
