Moderator Shereen Mitwali set the stage by highlighting that Abu Dhabi’s approach goes beyond construction to building sustainable ecosystems. His Excellency Adel Al Nuaimi described how ADPIC and Khalifa Fund are strengthening the SME ecosystem through champion programs, procurement opportunities, and events to connect SMEs with potential partners, while unified contracts reduce entry barriers for newcomers. Moustafa Fahour shared that Abu Dhabi’s PPP model uniquely integrates ICV requirements, ensuring projects like Khalifa University’s student housing generate community value and local economic benefits. He emphasized the UAE’s global leadership in technology and innovation, noting that international firms increasingly seek local partnerships to leverage regional expertise. Ahmed Al Zaabi outlined how Modon embeds ICV goals from the planning phase of mega projects, ensuring local SMEs play key roles and highlighting the importance of collaboration with academia and government. He stressed the transformative role of digital platforms, AI, and real-time data in connecting SMEs to opportunities and aligning them with ICV targets.
