Évelyne was unable to find a cure to her beastly affliction during her pilgrimage through the Lands Between. Despite her abstinence of blood since she abandoned her homeland of Yharnam, the affliction only continued to spread vigorously and violently since her attempts to hold the beast at bay by burning her blood. To add further insult to injury, the scent of Old Blood within Éve's veins drew the attention of the Outer Gods. Each one laid claim to a piece of her soul through her encounters with their avatars — the demigods. The newly-wed couple, Gren and Éve, sought to conceive a child but were unable to, with Éve losing control of her body and her mind was unraveling as she succumbed to the spreading affliction. Gren's mother, Penthesilea, once spoke of the practice of soul transference; a divine rite of the gods. Unwilling to lose another loved one — in a desperate attempt to save his partner's life — Gren transplanted Éve's blood and soul into her Mimic Tear; the perfect vessel to isolate the tainted blood. As an artificial life, Cherilyn is able to wield the tainted blood without risk of the same affliction that crippled her "mother". Cherilyn is tasked by Gren to seek out a way to cleanse the blood and reclaim the fragments of Éve's soul, while he secrets her body away from the gaze of the Outer Gods in a realm outside of time. --- Much of the character's lore is inspired by the phantasms in Bloodborne and Ludwig's reference to his "thread of light". Source: • The Parasites in Bloodborne Explained (Lud... Through Éve's frequent use of fire to set her blood ablaze, faint embers linger within. Without mortal limitations, Cherilyn can cleanse away the tainted blood by burning away the true culprits of the beast plague — the parasites. Much of Bloodborne's lore can be boiled down to slug-like parasites living in the Old Blood that infects the host and compels them to seek more blood; as seen with the icon of the Blacksky Eye and the Beast Runes. By burning her blood, Évelyne was unknowingly burning away the parasites. In an act of self-preservation, they pushed to accelerate Eve's transformation to be free of further harm. In essence, the parasites are burned away the more flames Cherilyn uses, thus cleansing the blood. Like the original version of Cherilyn, I wanted to use Fire's Deadly Sin again to heavily emphasise the self-burning but I didn't want to clutter my spell rotation so I chose to leave it out, but it is good for passively preventing a boss' Stance from recovering; moreso if it's a melee boss that sticks to you like glue. Cherilyn's theme plays into Évelyne's roots and operates like a Hunter within Elden Ring's setting. She wields an approximation of a Trick weapon, parries and wields arcane powers. Cheri's constant use of blood encrusts the dagger until a blade of tainted blood is formed; one which she uses to switch modes at will. To emphasise the raging beast within the blood, I used Dragon Communion spells since it's the only school of spells that manifests a head; besides Roar of Rugalea. Bayle's Tyranny would've been the perfect "upgrade" to Dragonmaw but I preferred the practicality, tracking and high burst damage of Flame Lightning. FL also looks like both a Curved Sword and a Pickaxe; a nod to Cheri's "parents". Song used: Transcending All; Bestower of All (Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent)
