Évelyne was a Cainhurst noble who abandoned her lineage after discovering the truth of the beasts she slaughtered, the beastly transformations her family and friends underwent, and the horrible fate that would befall her. Disgusted by the depravity she partook in, she swore to never consume blood ever again and left her home behind on a pilgrimage of self-discovery and redemption, armed with nothing but her skills with a blade. Although Évelyne abstains from blood, she had drunk enough to advance her beasthood when she was still in Yharnam, but not enough to cause a full-blown transformation. Endure, Braggart's Roar and Bestial Vitality are used as a way for Évelyne to harness the strengths of her inner beast, while Flame, Cleanse Me is used as homage to the Yharnam tradition of wielding fire to keep beasts away and in her case, to keep her beasthood in check. In effect, I'm borrowing and consolidating some ideas I used for Cherilyn, Évelyne's daughter. Évelyne has been the character I've carried over since Demon's Souls, but unlike past iterations where she was an INT spellsword after learning Souls Arts in Boletaria, she arrives in the Lands Between after departing Yharnam instead. This time, she's a stance character that can switch between defensive (sword-and-shield) and aggressive (dual swords) stances at will. The Swaddling Cloth plays into her family's vampiric theme, while Malenia's Great Rune is used as a Rally substitute. Bloodborne allowed me to flesh out Évelyne’s backstory retroactively by connecting her to Cainhurst because of the Evelyn pistol. In the spirit of roleplaying, I attribute them being made in memory of her, by order of Queen Annalise. This would infer that Évelyne departed Yharnam before the formation of the Vilebloods and before the nobles were slaughtered by the Church. Song used: Caligo, Miasma of Night (Nightreign)
