International Children’s Rights (Advanced LL.M.) | Gabriela Cavazani Interview | Leiden University

Watch the eighth episode of the Advanced LL.M. in International Children’s Rights Alumni Interview Series, where we continue to highlight the inspiring work of our graduates making a difference around the world. In this episode, we speak with Gabriela Cavazani, a lawyer from Brazil and a member of the most recent 2024–2025 cohort of the programme. Gabriela shares what motivated her to enrol in the LL.M. and her first impressions upon arriving in Leiden, warmly recalling the welcome she received from the faculty and staff. She also highlights the rich diversity of the classroom, with students from various countries and professional backgrounds. With a background in family law, Gabriela explains how the programme broadened her perspective—reinforcing the importance of seeing children not only as subjects of protection, but also as agents and rights holders. She also talks about opportunities to apply what she has learned, particularly through her involvement in the Leiden Children’s Rights Clinic.
