Welcome to my Dungeon Siege - Legends of Aranna speedrun where I show how to beat the current world record by about an hour / 30min ingame. Just like with my Stronghold speedruns I used segments in order to get the best result, so once again this is not a valid record but just for fun :-) The main idea to beat the record was to switch from Multiplayer to Singleplayer and use the 1.2 speed multiplier to save about 20min. The main approach for a fast time stayed the same: use a combat mage, get him to level 14 and cast Haste for the rest of the run for another 25% speed boost. Unfortunately, Haste can only be cast upon oneself, so I was not able to make use of companions after getting Haste since they would fall behind... With that, my goal for the first half of the run was to get as quickly as possible to a level 14 combat mage! The best leveling spell for a combat mage seems to be Acid Gas, but it takes forever to get experience when you only attack while running past everyone. Once you reach Illicor, you meet Nardulo who will have a higher level than you by the time, so the best thing is to continue with him. At the top of the Mountain of the Dead, you meet Konus, another combat mage, and once again he will have a higher level than your current hero, so you should continue with him! This means that you can completely skip leveling until Konus because you will disband your current hero at this point no matter what! When you meet Konus he is still 2 levels away from using Haste which brings me to another big part of this run: luck! By saving before each merchant, I made sure to get a good selection of items which boosted combat magic / mana. This way, I managed to bring Konus not only up to level 14 but 17 and was able to cast Haste the moment I recruited him. Until the crystal guardians I did not get a single combat magic level by experience but solely increased it with new items! Relying on buying items made it necessary to get a good amount of gold in order to be able to afford them. There are many chests with high chances for expensive items and if they were close to the main track, I went for them. Nardulos spellbook (9k) helped a lot in the first half, Jharmayas spellbook (10k) aswell as Kajjs Breastplate (28k) and the whole Cicatrix area in general gave a good chunk of gold for the start of the second half! Up to this point, it seems to be the best choice to go for the Singleplayer but there are 2 big disadvantages you need to consider: you cant respawn as a ghost and continue when you die... all bosses have 3x the health of their Multiplayer pendants... Speaking of bosses, for the big fights near the end I was not sure how to best win them until I got there... Thats why I picked up several spells to choose from and tested them once I got to the final minutes. The best combination I found was using a Death Knight (level 20) together with the Detonating Glyph (level 21). The Death Knight may not be as consistent as the twisted mucosa and requires a higher level but he deals more damage on average and has much higher health. Detonating Glyph is a mass destruction spell with a large AOE, armour piercing damage and it will not stop invisibility! The downsides are that you do not get any experience from the damage and the very high mana consumption, which brings me to my last point: potions. At the beginning of the run, I tried to find a setup to minimize the use of potions because the animation takes about 3 seconds which makes you lose time and renders you helpless against enemies! The combination I set up consisted of Mana Chant, Battle Healing and rejuvenation potions, at least that was the plan until I stumbled across another potion animation cancel trick! Current runners already use a similar trick by dropping and recollecting items after using potions but that is slow and inconvenient during fights! With my technique, you sometimes cant even see a stop during movement but only hear the drinking sound! Im not going to tell you what I did though, you need to watch the the video for that :-P With this trick, gaining intelligence for more mana or strength / better armor for health became irrelevant! During the final fights, I drank 5 health potions and 44 mana potions (~13000 mana) without ever delaying a single attack! I think, for my first run that is a pretty good result! If you have some ideas for improvements, let me know! Thanks for reading, I hope you like the run :-) Timestamps: 0:00:26 Start 0:03:01 Ice Giant Killed 0:09:17 Lost Queen Killed 0:15:59 Enter Illicor 0:21:35 Enter Underground City (Kale) 0:26:02 Enter Fen of the Frozen (Traders Camp) 0:29:13 Enter Mountain of the Dead (Konus) 0:34:19 Enter Ruined City 0:38:12 Enter Demlock Cut 0:41:06 Enter Kmethket Tower 0:45:20 Enter Xots Pass 0:48:06 Enter Cliff City (Ohna) 0:53:08 Enter Fortress 0:58:29 Enter Wasteland 1:03:24 Enter Great Clock 1:08:29 Shadowjumper Killed
