MAY 18, 2018 UPDATE: The Bay Coast Railroad has officially ceased operations and will be taken over by another shortline. The Bay Coast Railroad operated 96 miles of trackage between Little Creek in Norfolk, VA to Pocomoke City, Maryland. The railroad would sometimes work as far south as Norfolk Southern's Portlock Yard in Chesapeake about once a week. Between Norfolk and Cape Charles, the railroad uses a carfloat, and is one of only two or three railroads to my knowledge still in existence that uses a carfloat. This railroad was formerly known as the Eastern Shore Railroad before the buyout from Cassatt Management, LLC. The locomotive roster includes a former Frisco GP15-1 and an old LLPX GP38. Here you will see the GP15-1 in several scenes around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. This footage was shot with a Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V and a Sony HDR-CX380.
