I have seen this unit advertised on StereoNet Australia for $2800 and then the price was lowered to $1500 and even at that level I did not think it was worth buying. It was however bought by someone else and they sent it straight to me. Even though it is exactly the kind of opportunity I am always on a lookout for, I did not think it was right for me and I was right. It is an example of great engineering but a lot effort was put into jitter mitigation rather than quality of the reader, which is CDM12 (industrial, but still CDM-12). It is mounted on sub-chassis and springs, and the servo has at least 3 processors, but it still is only CDM-12. It took me couple of hours just to work out how to get into the main, mid section and I have given up on opening the sides, where the power supplies live. There just isn't enough upside for me, given it has a hard electronics fault and there is no manual available. Also - from what I read - all servicing is outsourced by M.L., which is now part of Harman-Kardon, to third party company in US and thay are not helpful. Finally, the physical layout is such, that it is hard to even get access to measure voltages on the 7 regulators. Had I bought it myself, I could spend a week full time on it to really work out how it all fits together, but even then, if the fault was to be with one of the processors or EPROMs that carry M.L. proprietary code, it would have been the end of the road. Bad news for the owner, but I will not proceed with the repair for the $1000 he offered to pay is just not enough given the mechanical construction complexity of it.
