Train Hits Falling Tree At Speed | Paddington Station S2 E7 | Our Stories

A severe weather warning is issued as Storm Eleanor closes in on the UK. With gales of 90 miles per hour, Network Rail are bracing themselves for two days of disruption. Senior managers in Swindon's Control Room hold an emergency conference call as they prepare for the storm to hit, drafting in extra staff to work through the night and be On-Call. But as Eleanor closes in, a fly-away plastic bag causing a loss of power, trapping three trains. Mobile Operations Manager, Jane, is sent out on the tracks, but with the bag nowhere to be seen, the situation threatens to disrupt Paddington's peak service. Route Control in Swindon have a further weather-related emergency on their hands as reports come in of a packed Paddington to Penzance train being struck and damaged by a falling tree in Hungerford. Mobile Operations Manager Chris O'Brien is immediately dispatched to the scene to try and rescue 250 stranded passengers.
