Chardham Ka Pehla Din - Mussoorie Me Lunch In this vlog, we begin our sacred Char Dham Yatra from the holy city of Haridwar. The first destination of our journey is Yamunotri Dham, the origin of the holy Yamuna River and the first dham among the four sacred shrines of Uttarakhand. Our journey starts early in the morning from Haridwar, and we travel through the beautiful Himalayan roads passing Dehradun, Mussoorie, and Barkot before reaching the Yamunotri route. The road trip itself is an unforgettable experience filled with breathtaking mountain views, winding roads, rivers, forests, and peaceful Himalayan villages. The approximate road distance from Haridwar to Yamunotri is around 220–230 km, depending on the route taken. Most pilgrims travel by car, taxi, or shared jeep up to Janki Chatti, from where the final trek to Yamunotri Temple begins. Char Dham Yatra 2026 Important Information The Yamunotri Dham Kapat (temple doors) will open on 19 April 2026, which is the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, marking the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra season. Trip To Temples The temple generally remains open until around Diwali / Bhai Dooj in November before closing for winter due to heavy snowfall. If you are planning to visit Char Dham in 2026, it is recommended to plan your travel early because hotels, transport, and helicopter bookings get full very quickly. You can plan your journey in two ways: • Book a Char Dham Yatra package from Haridwar or Rishikesh • Or travel independently by car / taxi / jeep and book hotels along the route Both options are popular among pilgrims depending on budget and comfort. Travel Tip If you are planning Yamunotri Yatra, the nearest motor road ends at Janki Chatti, and from there pilgrims usually do a 6 km trek to the Yamunotri Temple. You can also choose pony, palki, or pithu services if you prefer not to trek.
