The Retriever body is one of the most traveled designs in modern waste collection history, changing hands more times than nearly any other small satellite loader on the market. Originally developed in the late 1970s by family-run hauler Parks & Sons of Boise, Idaho, the design was later sold to Bison Industries, then passed to Peerless, followed by Oregon Western Industries, and ultimately absorbed into the Heil lineup—where it evolved into the curved-shell Retriever body still recognized today. This featured truck comes from the tail end of the Peerless era, and is one of the rare few Retrievers from that period equipped with the larger 12-cubic-yard body. Paired with a 1995 International 4700 cab and chassis, this setup offers impressive maneuverability and agility for tight-access routes, while still carrying the presence and proportions of a full-size refuse truck. Typically assigned to University Place’s tight-access waterfront areas and townhouse alley collection, this Retriever was caught lending a hand on the tail end of a standard residential route—making for some excellent, unique footage. The first half of the video features: • Cart tipper collection • Close-up packing action • In-cab ride-along footage • A look at the surprisingly quick pace this compact MSL can maintain The second half of the video showcases the complete unloading process, as the Retriever empties into a full-size rear loader—one of the hallmark features of the Retriever and other satellite-style Mini Side Loaders (MSLs). Multiple close-up angles highlight the unique packer/ejector system, offering a detailed look at how these units operate. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first video on YouTube to document the entire unloading process of a Peerless Retriever from start to finish. I hope you all enjoy the video! As always, a huge thank you goes out to the driver of this truck—and thanks to everyone for watching and supporting the channel. 🔗 Follow Thrash ’N’ Trash Productions: Facebook: / thrashntrashproductions Instagram: / thrash_n_trash22 YouTube: / trashmonkey22 👍 Like, comment, and subscribe for more real-world garbage truck action! #GarbageTruck #TrashTruck #International4700 #Navistar #Peerless #Retriever #MiniSideLoader #MSL #WasteCollection #Sanitation #Recycling #TrashTrucks #ThrashNTrash
