Donington Park Testing, Crashes/Pure Sound (TCR UK Test Day), 18/2/25

Trying a slightly different format for this one. Yet another deceptively dry, looking but bitterly cold Donington Park day for the 2025 TCR UK's media/test/pre-season thingy? That featured more junior formula and Civics than TCR cars but still ended up being pretty action packed, albeit for maybe the wrong reasons! As ever the Civics were WILD even if there was only a handful of them, and the more spectacular drivers eventually packed after their respective trips to the scenery. A pair of ST180 Fiestas in attendance kept their noses relatively clean, proving just how well those little cars are stuck to the road most days. Junior testing was filled by Fiesta Junior and JSCC runners with one of the latter unfortunately becoming the first craner club member of 2025, saving the first slide but toppling over on the second attempt. Other than that the juniors behaved pretty well. Incredibly despite the age of the old Saxo in JSCC, they still seem to be finding them and racing them! Yet no sign of the brand new and somewhat mythical TOCA junior car! Then we get to TCR UK. What can we say about this that's not going to upset anybody (again)! TCR UK seems to have an almost bi-annual falling out, if it's not with its teams, its competition or even its own fans, it's usually kneecapping itself through some other manner. Its ability to kick the ball squarely into the back of its own net has been quite the experience over the years. This year it's looking like TCR UK is splitting once again, with most of the cars up for sale, several heading to 750MC, Britcar or BRSCC maybe poaching some too, and of course the big controversy with URC and TCR licensing effectively blacklisting certain cars from appearing in certain championships (ironically, just about everyone bar URC has been given the all clear to run TCR cars)! Regardless, there wasn't exactly a million of them in attendance, but maybe that's not proof that grids will struggle in 2025. This description box isn't big enough to go into all of the 'no you can't play with my ball, you're banned' type behavior that's gone on over winter, and nobody reads these bits anyway, so I'll keep it short.
