Pigs in a Blanket Ingredients: 2-2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour OR bread flour¹ divided (250-295g) 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 packet instant yeast² (2 ¼ teaspoon) 1 ½ teaspoons sugar ¾ teaspoon salt ⅛-¼ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon oregano 2 Tablespoons olive oil + additional ¾ cup warm water (175ml) Preparation: Using a bread machine: Add the oregano, garlic powder, salt, sugar, and olive oil to the bread machine pan. Pour in the water, then add the cheese and flour. Finally, add the yeast. Set the machine to the dough cycle and start. Without a bread machine: Warm the water in the microwave for about 35 seconds, until lukewarm. Pour it into a bowl, add the sugar, and stir briefly. Add the yeast, mix lightly, and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until foamy. Next, add the oil, flour, and remaining ingredients. Mix well by hand or using a dough hook on a mixer. Lightly spray the dough with oil, cover with plastic wrap and a towel, and let rise for about 1 hour. Once the dough is ready, roll it out very thin. Place a hot dog on the dough and roll it up tightly. Cut the dough around the hot dog, then gently roll each piece in your hands, sealing any holes or cracks to prevent the pigs in a blanket from opening during baking. Repeat until all hot dogs are used. If you have leftover dough, shape it into a few small bread rolls. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). For a glossy finish, brush the dough with an egg wash. Once the oven is fully heated, bake the pigs in a blanket for 30 minutes. Depending on your oven, they may need an additional 5–10 minutes. Remove from the oven and enjoy!
