The National Housing and Construction Company Chief Executive, Keith Kaijuka, has urged the government to update housing regulations in order to attract investment and strengthen standards in the sector. Uganda’s housing industry is currently guided by the Landlord and Tenant Act of 2022 and the Physical Planning Act of 2010. Kaijuka’s appeal comes as the country grapples with a housing deficit of 2.4 million units, projected to rise to 3 million by 2030. He made the remarks during a prayer breakfast at the company’s Kampala headquarters, led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace Stephen Kazimba Mugalu.
