In 1913, René Lorin, a French engineer, conceived a seemingly outlandish idea which he named the 'Ramjet.' This innovation was described in the French aviation journal L'Aérophile and involved propelling a plane forward using only the force of incoming air to create exhaust and speed. However, due to the era's frail planes and their lack of speed, the concept remained untested. Fast forward to the 1930s, another French engineer named René Leduc stumbled upon this revolutionary idea. Inspired and with a desire to pay homage to its late creator, Leduc sought the support of his employer, Breguet Aviation, to transform Lorin’s vision into reality. This endeavor culminated in Leduc's first design: a small but unique aircraft in which the pilot sat encased within the air intake, devoid of any forward visibility due to a nose cone. However, this design had one significant limitation – it couldn't launch independently. Due to the very nature of the Ramjet, which relies on incoming air for speed, the plane had to be launched from a larger 'Mothership.' Finally, after years of perseverance and following WWII, on 21st April 1949, the plane soared, detaching from its Mothership and flying at remarkable speeds. But everything changed with the second design.
