For Peer Review Week 2020, Springer Nature held a webinar presented by Sowmya Swaminathan, Head of Editorial Policy and Research Integrity, Nature Research. In this session, Sowmya discusses: • types of peer review in the current peer review landscape • peer review initiatives at Springer Nature - including reviewer training for early career researchers • transparency in peer review, uptake and outcomes - including an introduction to ‘In Review’, the initiative enabling researchers to share preprints and track manuscript’s review progress • reviewer recognition and • peer review in the age of COVID-19 Speaker profile: Sowmya Swaminathan Head of Editorial Policy & Research Integrity, Nature Research Sowmya steers editorial policy development across Nature Research, including policies relevant to rigour and reproducibility, research integrity and transparency in scholarly publishing. She is a strong advocate of working in coalition with diverse stakeholders across the research ecosystem toward solutions that benefit researchers and support the progress of transparency, integrity and open research in scholarly publishing.
