Banana Buns/ Banana Puri is the sweet Puri made up of ripened bananas. This Puri comes out flaky which can be enjoyed with coconut chutney or during breakfast time with tea. Also it can be served during lunch with spicy vatana gravy which gives sweet-spicy taste & flavour. Let's get started for the recipe: _________________________________________ Ingredients: 1 ripened banana 3/4th cup melted jaggery 1/4th cup curd (dahi) Maida as required for kneading 1 tbspn Cumin seeds (Jeera) 2 pinch of baking soda 1/2 spoon of salt 1 tbspn ghee Method: In a large pan, peel off ripened banana & then add melted jaggery in it. Now mash the mixture till it becomes watery. When it becomes watery, add curd and mash well using your hands. After some times, mixture becomes smooth and mushy. Now add cumin seeds (jeera), baking soda & mix for a minute. After that add 4 tbsps of maida and mix well. Rest for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes add maida & salt as required to form smooth dough. Remember the dough should be more soft than Puri dough. Now cover the dough with a lid and rest for 8 hours. After 8 hours, open the lid & knead slightly. Do not knead vigorously at this stage. Pinch out the big size dough and keep on the rolling board. Sprinkle some maida on it and start rolling to form Puri. Roll medium thick. Heat oil in a kadak on medium flame. Slide the puris and fry evenly on both sides till they turn golden brown. Remember to keep the flame medium, as high flame may burn the Puri. When puris are golden brown, remove and drain the excess oil & transfer in a plate. Serve Karwari Banana Buns with coconut chutney, with tea or with spicy vatana or lentils gravy. _________________________________________ Tips: Always choose ripened bananas for making Banana Buns., which makes it easy to mash the mixture and bring sweet flavour to the buns/ Puri Do not add water while kneading the dough. Add maida gradually as required. 8 puris can be made for the given measurement as mentioned in the above ingredients. If you want more, then you can double the measurement. Fry on medium flame only. It will take around 01.05 minutes to become golden on both sides.
