"Without biodiversity, we'd be stuck with the same old stew every day – that gets boring!" says farmer Franz, part of the Burgenland Farmer Cluster, spanning 2,870 hectares near the Austria-Hungary border. This short documentary examines how the cluster navigates Burgenland's climate challenges and sensitive nature areas while building resilient productivity through diversity. Anchored by the historic Esterházy estate, Austria's largest organic farm, this cluster brings together farmers who are proving that agriculture and biodiversity can flourish together! Meet the farmers helping maintain populations of insects, ground squirrels, Great Bustards and bee-eater nesting colonies, while improving their ecosystem services. Discover how the interaction between science and farming practice generates useful data for both farmers and researchers. Part of the EU Horizon 2020 FRAMEwork project, working with the Institute of Wildlife Biology and Game Management at BOKU University. This project established 11 pilot farmer clusters across 10 European countries to test landscape-scale approaches to managing farmland biodiversity, based on a successful UK model of 150+ clusters. @bokuwien @EUScienceInnovation LEARN MORE!
