Poem: এটি প্ৰেমৰ পদ্য Poet: Nabakanta Barua Recitation by: Jyotika Bezbaruah About Nabakanta Barua : Nabakanta Barua was a prominent Assamese novelist and poet. He was born on December 29, 1926 in Guwahati. He is also known as Ekhud Kokaideo. The poet worked at AK College in Uttar Pradesh. He also joined Cotton College and worked there till 1964. He also worked as an officer of English education at Assam Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad. he most important poems of Barua are “Polokh”, “Monot pore Arundhati”, “Norokot Don Juan” and “Crussot don Juan”. In 1984 he published the Assamese magazine “Sirolu” which later published as “Notun sirolu”. In 1975 he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for “Kokadeutar har”. In 1976 he received the Padma Bhushan and in 1993 he was presented the Assam valley Literary Award. Barua served as the President of the Assam Sahitya Sabha’s Dhing Adhibashan in 1968. He also presided over Asom Sahitya Sabha’s Bishwanath Chariali convention in 1990. Nabakanta Barua died on 14 July 2002.
