Cycling Mayo - Westport to Achill on the Greenway on days 28 and 29 of Irish Coast Cycle

At the start of May I resumed the Irish Coast Cycle with an overnight cycle from Westport to Keel on Achill island. I wild camped on Keel lough before returning to Westport along the Greenway the next day. At the time (start of May 2023) the new cycle route out of Westport was not yet completed although my navigation sent me that way anyway. That was an older alternate cycle way I used on the return trip but in any case I think that new cycle way should also now be complete. You can do almost the entire trip to Achill sound on segregated cycle paths, mostly following the old rail line. The exception is the stretch going through Newport, perhaps a kilometre of the total distance but this can be busy enough as all the traffic is converging on a single bridge across the river. The resumes the Irish Coast Cycle in 2023 - next I'll be getting the train south to Tralee for a week long cycle to Dingle and then up the coast to Galway.
