With 12.5 miles ahead, 30 pounds on my back, and the sun beating down, Day 3 pushed me a bit. The trail winds through Llandeilo r Fân, Blaendyryn, and over the rugged Garreg Fawr – but what began as a tough 2 days soon turned into a game of thirst. The sun was truly relentless. No cloud cover. No shelter. Then came the moment that changed the dynamic: I lost my water filter. Out in the blistering heat, with clean water supplies depleting, I had no choice - drink from the streams or risk heatstroke - that was it. This wasn’t just a hike anymore; it was a test of pushing through one of the most intensely hot days I’ve ever had outdoors. Truly, as soon as I was drinking fluid, I was losing it. Would I escape poisoning with all the pathogens out there? Who Knows?
