Detecting PD on 3kV motor with UVolle

Checking a 3kV motor in a HV lab, looking for PD. UVollé pinpointed PD and helped fixing the motor. UVollé was equipped with a clip on close up lens and with the on board flash light turned on. Factory acceptance tests program for high voltage motors includes PD testing. Ofil's #UVollé corona camera demonstrates in this movie the outcome of such a test. The setup for the test with a UV corona camera is simple and safe. The test is performed under the rated voltage and under regular ambient light conditions. The results are qualitative and objective. As seen in the video clip, the UVollé camera provides a clear and accurate view of the PD activity leading end users to the location that needs repair.
