Richard Egan was foreman of the Garrett ranch in this 1962 current-day Western. Anne Seymour was his boss; Terry Moore was the boss's daughter who had eyes for Jim Redigo (Egan) while Ryan O'Neal was Terry's brother. Kathleen Hite, who wrote for 'Gunsmoke', created this show but it wasn't meeting expectations. So the boss lady was killed off, her daughter disappears, and the producers brought in Charles Bronson to 'save' the show. As with 'Travels of Jaimie McPheeters' the show's unique qualities were weakened when came Bronson. NBC cancelled 'Empire' after a single season, only to turn it into 'Redigo' (1963) with Egan the only cast member to return. Now in glorious black-and-white and reduced to a half hour, it lasted a half-season. 'Empire' showed up again in 1964 when ABC reran the series on Sunday nights, replacing Bronson's earlier series 'Jaimie McPheeters'. 00:00 Empire opening titles. Rousing theme by Johnny Green. 00:57 Empire opening titles, revised. When the cast changed, the intro was redesigned and shortened. 01:24 Empire end credits. These were in color, but we could only find a B&W version. 02:06 Redigo, opening titles. Theme by Harry Keller and Gerry Goffin. Al Caiola included this on one of his LPs. It's possible he played the guitar part heard in this intro. hat-tips: portions of this video originally posted by @BlackandWhiteTV-kl1lm and @stuartfanning
