Today we're discussing an aspect that most beginners don't understand on deadlifts : the proper back position. Unfortunately a lot of people in the gym probably have the strength, but don't know how to use this strength in order to have a strong and technical deadlift. It all comes down to the shoulder position you're creating before pulling onto the bar. And in most cases, when you try to get a 'flat' back, you end up in an actual worse position, and also weaker. That's why instead of thinking flat back, it's important to think NEUTRAL back. This will allow you to then properly engage the right back muscles, which will turn later into a better and more technically efficient deadlift. That's why I wanted to share with you the technique that I use in order to properly position my back during deadlifts, and that's basically how to deadlift.
