Welcome to Poetry Changes Lives, my daily book of poetry, history, and a thought for the day. It is available in hardcover and paperback on poetrychangeslives.com and Amazon worldwide — a wonderful Christmas present for lovers of poetry and reflection. ✨ On This Day in 1818 Franz Gruber, a humble Austrian teacher and organist, composed the music for the beloved carol “Silent Night.” Carols evolved during the Middle Ages as a way of bringing the Christmas message to ordinary people, and by the Victorian era Christmas had become the celebration we recognise today — trees, cards, and stories such as Dickens’s A Christmas Carol giving the season its familiar glow. Today I read the words of 'Silent Night', a carol that continues to bring peace, comfort, and spiritual reflection across the world at this time. 🎶 Silent Night – Franz Gruber Silent night! Holy night! All is calm, all is bright… (Full poem included in the video.) 🌟 Thought for Today Today I give thanks for my existence and for that of the whole world; I ask that those I love will find their own spiritual experiences and that the blessings of peace may be upon us all. This Channel is for lovers of poetry and lovers of history. The power of poetry to inspire, comfort, teach and heal is demonstrated. This is for the whole poetry community - those who love to read, hear and write beautiful poems, both classic and modern. Chris talks poetry to show how great poetry has the power to change the way we feel.
