This is my third improved audio mix for the original 1950's Fantasyland dark rides at Disneyland, which is the original Alice in Wonderland. This mix mainly consists of many images of the whole 1958 Alice dark ride, synced to audio that I have already mixed and looped. I extracted it from a couple other mixes. One from the great DisneyChris, and another was sent to me by Adam Smithson on Youtube and Discord (THANK YOU!). Those complete soundtracks I took and edited some parts out and also many fade ins and out for each audio track. Despite never being alive for this original (1958-1982) version, I grew up with the (1984-2014) version of the ride in the last decade of it's lifespan, and have always absolutely loved all versions of this ride. While I do like Peter Pan a bit better, I probably consider this my second favorite of the five (1983-present) dark rides, with Snow White as number four and Pinocchio (added in 1983) number five. In spite of a very charming story, scenes, and set pieces (And not a bad ride at all), the Pinocchio ride just never had quite as much impact as the original dark rides, or their 1980's reincarnations. Anyway, the 1958 Alice in Wonderland was very much like the other original dark rides in that while still very fun and charming, had very limited budget & technology compared to both the later 1960's all time classics (like "it's a small world", Pirates of the Caribbean, and Haunted Mansion, among many others), as well as later (mainly 1970's-90's, and less since the late-90's) works by WED, WDI, including the revised 1983/84 dark rides. This meant that despite the wonderful music and dialogue by Alice herself, many scenes were simply painted plywood flats, but with very charming artwork as well. There were some changes to some of the artwork in the 60's & 70's, and since this mix is supposed to represent the original 1958 version (Even before Matterhorn was built next to it in 1959), that means that the versions in this videos are the 1958 originals. Otherwise, this wonderful attraction stayed pretty much the same for the first quarter century of it's life. We start outside in front of a very different façade than any of the other dark rides in Fantasyland, which has always been a beautiful scene straight out of the story Alice in Wonderland, however back from 1958 until 2010 it was even more beautiful for one simple reason. While there were some changes in the 1982-84 refurbishment those at least tried to fit within the theming, and I say 2010 because I'm talking about the vine that carried ride passengers down from the second to first levels at the end of the original (1958-82) ride, and towards the end of the second (1984-2010) ride. Due to California safety laws, in 2010 a horrible looking structure was placed on top of the vine and completely ruined the scene, and it was like that for four years. They tried their best to make a new vine in the 2014 refurbishment to comply with California safety laws, but it still doesn't compare much to the original. Above you was the Skyway (1956-1994), and after boarding your caterpillar you hear Alice's spiel, "My adventures in Wonderland began when I followed the White Rabbit down the Rabbit hole, all of the sudden, I fell. Down, down...", before heading down the rabbit hole into wonderland. The first major scene is the Upside Down room, "Where the floor is where the ceiling should be", and you heard the White Rabbit singing "I'm late!". This was also one of the few scenes to not be included in the 1984 New Fantasyland version of the ride. Then you, Alice, are continually getting smaller in the Oversized Room (With an endless loop of the Cheshire Cat's laughing), before finding yourself in "A beautiful garden of live flowers", where you can hear the Golden Afternoon playing in the background. Then you enter the Tulgey Wood, where you can hear the Cheshire Cat singing along with some very strange looking animals. Next, it's off to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, where you can see Mad Hatter, March Hare, and the Doormouse, and hear the Mad Tea Party song being played in the background. Lastly, Alice enters a very dark room before banging into several doors and sliding down back into Fantasyland on the vine you were under when entering the attraction. This revised audio mix features improved mixing, with more realistic transitions between each room. It is another very simple C (later B) Ticket attraction, but still a very well done ride for anyone to enjoy, especially considering the limited budget and technology of the time (1950's) under which it was built. I hope you enjoy it! I do not own any of the audio or images used in this video. All image rights go to their respective owners ("E" Ticket Magazine, Disney, Daveland, etc), and all audio rights go to Disney. 0:00 Entrance 1:00 Upside Down Room 1:20 Oversized Room 1:35 Golden Afternoon 1:58 Tulgey Wood 2:25 Mad Tea Party 2:51 Conclusion 3:10 Vine & Unloading
