This 16-minute relaxing meditation can help you stay balanced during your day, fall asleep, or unwind after a stressful week. In this guided meditation, we practice relaxing the body by using our breath. In a world filled with things we cannot control, the breath is one thing we CAN control that has a direct physical response on the body. By focusing on lengthening our exhale, we initiate a relaxation response, which turns the body from "fight or flight" to "rest and digest" mode. By practicing this technique regularly, you can learn how to initiate a relaxation response in your body when you recognize tension or stress in your life. Suggestion: Get cozy before you practice! Cover up with a blanket, relax against a pillow, or lay down on your yoga mat or in bed. Making sure you're comfortable before you begin will help you relax into the meditation more quickly.
