Hi everyone! Welcome on board a brand new video. This time a real nice autumn Sprinter ride from Tiel all the way to Baarn! We start with a foggy ride towards Utrecht and after a short break we continue to Soest and Baarn through the beautiful autumn forest. Maybe our most stunning train line during this time of year. Enjoy! 0:00 Tiel - Slippery Tracks! We depart on slippery tracks from Tiel. Our trains are not finalized with sand to prevent slipping on slippery tracks. This because the ATB safety signals run through the tracks. Sand could block these signals. Can't wait for ERMTS in cases like this. Then sand boxes on a trains would not be a problem. Instead we have Sandite on our most slippery lines during autumn. These Sandite trains run with passengers on board and smear a small layer of gel, sand and steal on the tracks. So the trains after that will have less slippery tracks up to a few hours later. 2:54 Tiel Passewaaij This line is single tracked for a short time. After this station it will split up in two. This way we can setup a 15 minute train schedule on this line during rush hour. As a bonus I added a still from my camera from earlier that morning. 6:08 Wadenoijen The moon shines brightly in front of us! 9:51 Geldermalsen The line coming from Den Bosch joins on the left. After Geldermalsen the line to Dordrecht splits up. Another bonus picture for you all. 15:46 Culemborg (Station Announcement) Especially during foggy situations it's handy the driver knows when a station is closing in. This is shown to the driver by the sign with the long stretched S next to the tracks. It appears right after the message on the screen on the right side of the tracks. 19:37 Kuilenburgse Spoorbrug Province border Gelderland to Utrecht. 20:43 Foggy Situation Drivers must have full route knowledge before allowed to drive on routes. We can't delay trains just because of fog. 22:09 Houten Castellum + Schalkwijkse Spoorbrug Entering Houten area after passing the bridge. 25:28 Houten When tracks are super slippery the electrodynamic braking systems shuts down and the electro pneumatic systems takes over for better grip on the tracks. 29:43 Utrecht Lunetten After this station the line from Driebergen-Zeist will join in. 33:16 Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn 35:27 Utrecht Zuid Yard The south train yard of Utrecht. Empty because it's rush hour. Almost all trains are at work! 35:48 Utrecht Centraal Arrival Time for a little break that morning. I got halfway my shift here. 37:11 Utrecht Centraal - Change of Trains! Did you enjoy your break? :P Let's get to the next ride in this video! Utrecht to Baarn via Soest. Maybe the most beautiful ride during this time of year. Enjoy! 40:07 Utrecht Overvecht (Train Charter Loco) On the left a Train Charter locomotive. I miss driving these wonderful machines! :D 42:38 Blauwkapel West + Oost Lines from/to Hilversum and Spoorwegmuseum splitting up / joining in. 43:09 Blauwkapel Oost Connection Going from four to two track here. 44:23 Bilthoven After this station a extra side track for when delays occur. Slow trains can be set aside to let faster trains pass by. 47:43 Den Dolder - Rare Signalling Situation Two yellow signals right after each other. If the first one would've been place a few meters more away from Den Dolder it could've shown a flashing 4 on the number signal. But in this case the signal is already too close. So you will get to times a yellow signal following up each other. Important information for the driver to know when learning the route! When infrastructure is modernized situation like this are not permitted anymore. But that's all new regulation. This is still part of the old rules. 49:54 Splitting Up to Soest! Time to head left! Into the forests! 52:12 Soest Zuid Enjoy the wonderful autumn colors in the sun. 54:55 Unguarded Level Crossing 55:24 Soest The train from the other direction is passing us here. 57:31 Unguarded Level Crossing 58:48 Soestdijk The signal at the end of the station is already green. This closes the level crossing earlier. Just in case we might be sliding past the station due to slippery tracks. 1:02:50 Baarn Connection 1:03:29 Baarn We arrive at beautiful Baarn during autumn. I hope you enjoyed this Sprinter ride on one of our most stunning lines during this season! Don't forget to mention your favorite moments in the comments! :D Cheers!
