Bienvenue dans la vallée de la Maurienne, au cœur de l’axe ferroviaire franco–italien. Dans cette vidéo, je vous embarque en cabine pour un aller-retour entre Modane et Saint-Avre – La-Chambre, à bord d’une BB 36300, l’une des toutes dernières encore en service avant leur retrait définitif. Dans une première partie, nous partons Haut-le-pied de Modane à St-Avre. Vous trouverez des explications de conduite sur les lignes à forte pente, la gestion du freinage, le fonctionnement des paliers de sécurité, l'histoire de la ligne et des infrastructures, ainsi que la découverte des grands chantiers du tunnel de base du Mont-Cenis (Lyon–Turin). Dans une seconde partie, nous prenons en charge le train 47337 en provenance de Sibelin jusqu'à Modane. À son arrivée à Saint-Avre, sa composition est de 29 wagons, 402 mètres, 1 828 tonnes. Après plusieurs, nous ne repartons qu’avec une partie du train : 20 wagons, 195 mètres, 1 349 tonnes, que nous remontons en pousse attelée jusqu’à Modane avec 3 locomotives BB 36300 Au fil du parcours, retour sur : l’accident de Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne (1917), le triage de Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne et sa transformation liée au Lyon–Turin, l’activité industrielle de la vallée (Imerys, Trimet, Ferropem…), un hommage à la série **BB 36300**, aujourd’hui en fin de carrière. Les locomotives filmées ont depuis effectué leur ultime train Modane – Ambérieu, où elle sont désormais garée, en attente d’un avenir incertain : revente ou banque de pièces. Welcome to the Maurienne Valley, at the heart of the Franco–Italian rail corridor. In this video, I take you onboard for a technical cab ride between Modane and Saint-Avre – La-Chambre, driving a BB 36300, one of the very last locomotives of the class still in service just before their final withdrawal. In the first part of the video, we travel light engine from Modane to St-Avre. You’ll find detailed driving explanations about operating heavy trains on steep gradients, brake management, the role of safety platforms, the history of the line and its infrastructure, and an overview of the major works of the Mont-Cenis Base Tunnel (Lyon–Turin) project. In the second part, we take charge of train 47337 from Sibelin to Modane. When arriving at Saint-Avre, the train consists of 29 wagons, 402 meters, 1,828 tonnes. After several yard movements, we depart with only part of the consist: 20 wagons, 195 meters, 1,349 tonnes, which we haul uphill in assisted push mode to Modane, powered by three BB 36300 locomotives. Along the journey, we look back at: the Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne accident (1917), the Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne yard and its transformation linked to the Lyon–Turin project, the industrial activity of the valley (Imerys, Trimet, Ferropem…), and a tribute to the BB 36300, now at the end of their career. The locomotives featured in this video have since completed their final trip between Modane and Ambérieu, where they are now stored, awaiting an uncertain future: resale or dismantling for spare parts.
