Towards Feminist Poetics is an essay written by Elaine Showalter, It was published in 1989 in the book "Speaking Gender". In this work, Elaine Showalter talks about Feminism as a theory. Showalter belongs to second-wave #feminism and also lived in the Third-wave feminism. Showalter attempts to write something that can give a new direction to the #FeministTheory. Showalter believed that despite many attempts by various feminists from #VirginiaWoolf onwards, Feminist Theory has failed to make groundbreaking progress. Reason for this being that there is no poetics for feminism. In this essay/chapter, Showalter talks about some key concepts like, "Women as a Reader" which is also called Feminist Critique, and "Women as a Writer" or Gynocriticism.
