Two Unknown Medieval Catalan Gems at Sunset | Castell de Besora and Church of Santa Maria

Close to our previous stop, the castle of Oris, we encountered yet another magnificent rocky plateau with yet another ruin on top. This time we’re in Santa Maria de Besora. The sun was already setting, so we had to hurry up and climb the hill to explore this mysterious ruin. When we reached the top we already knew this was a special place. Views stretching for miles and miles and two magnificent ruins to boot: the castle of Besora and the church of Santa Maria. The castle is in quite a ruined state, but nonetheless interesting. The church is better preserved (and restored) and has a nice viewpoint from its belltower. All of it gets elevated to a higher level by just realising at what kind of location we’re standing in the middle of a sunset. We hope you enjoy this place as much as we have.
