High above the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes stands another historical gem: the castle of Verdera. From the keep the panorama stretches across the Bay of Roses and is an excellent viewpoint to spot oncoming assailants. Its history is a tale of strife between heaven and earth, or rather between abbots and counts. They acted out a tug of war over the centuries until the castle was abandoned and no longer in use. Still its ruins are an awesome reminder of these struggles and are an epic place to discover, even during intense gales!
