What do a 46 hp KTM dirt bike and a 68RFE behind a 400 hp Cummins have in common? Almost the same size clutch pack. My dirt bike makes about 46 hp and weighs ~200 lbs. The 68RFE was originally designed for around 235 hp behind a small gas engine. But we’re now asking it to live behind close to 400 hp and ~1,000 ft‑lb of torque. It’s no surprise the 68RFE has a bad reputation. The industry has done a great job making them better and more reliable, but it will never be as strong as an Allison 6‑speed or the newer 8‑speed. In this video I compare: 68RFE clutch pack vs my KTM dirt bike clutch pack 68RFE 4th gear clutch vs Allison 4th gear clutch from a true medium‑duty, diesel‑designed transmission Same idea as using a longer wrench: Bigger clutch diameter = more leverage = more holding power. The Allison was built from day one to live behind a diesel. The 68RFE wasn’t. That’s exactly why we developed our Allison conversion – for the right customer that actually uses the power and torque they paid for. 👉 Watch the full video to see the side‑by‑side clutch comparison and why “the proof’s in the pudding.” #68RFE #Cummins #AllisonSwap #DieselPerformance #TransmissionTech
