Ingrid Palmer and Rome Lim share their insights on workplace accommodations and disclosure. Centering the voices of people with episodic disabilities is vital in shaping inclusive policy and practices in the workplace. Ingrid Palmer, (who uses she/her pronouns), is an award-winning speaker, bestselling author, and holds the position of Principal IDEAL (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Leading to belonging) Advocate at Realize. As a visually impaired former foster kid, Ingrid is committed to combating discrimination in all its forms, as well as to drive systemic change and debunking myths and stereotypes of stigmatized identities. Ingrid’s dedication is deeply rooted in her living experiences of early childhood trauma, foster care, disability, and gender-based violence. Rome Lim (who’s pronouns are he/him) is a writer and photographer, born in the Philippines, raised in so-called Canada, specifically in the city of Hamilton. What Rome is most fulfilled by is empowering marginalized youth across Canada through mentorship, creativity, storytelling, and cultural knowledge sharing. Over the past four years, Rome has been a part of Pinoys on Parliament - Canada’s first and largest national Filipino youth conference. Rome’s latest venture is starting his own photography business, House 98 Productions, which he intends to grow into a fully-fledged multimedia company in the near future.
