Backyard Bird Photography – Dark-Eyed Junco in Winter Snow

Earlier this week a small snowstorm rolled through overnight, leaving about two inches of snow in the yard. By morning it was already starting to melt, and I knew it might be one of the last snows of the season. I set up a natural log perch in my backyard and prepared the camera from inside the house, hoping a bird would land before the snow disappeared. After waiting for a while, a Dark-Eyed Junco finally dropped onto the perch. This video shows the process of backyard bird photography — setting up the perch, waiting for wildlife, and capturing the moment when a bird finally arrives.
