Presentará la conferencia: “Polysorbates and Related Surfactants in Bioprocessing and Biotherapeutic Formulations “ Resumen: This talk will cover the key roles surfactants play in the biotherapeutic industry and the impact their purity can play both during the production of biological APIs through to their stabilization in the final formulation. Surfactants are widely used in various stages of bioprocessing, from stabilizing cell cultures, viral inactivation and purification and in preventing losses due to aggregation. Many of these materials are also used to stabilize formulations, particularly polysorbates. The latter are the most widely used surfactants in biotherapeutics owing to a combination of excellent performance in preventing protein aggregation (across a huge range of biopharmaceutical actives) in biological formulations and vaccines, and a long history of safe use over many years by the pharmaceutical industry. The final topic (and a significant part of the talk) will address the ongoing interest in the chemistry of polysorbates and how differences in purity levels in the various grades, can impact both formulation stability and efficacy.
