Little Nellie of Holy God, born Ellen Organ, was an Irish toddler who suffered from a spinal injury, tuberculosis, and a mouth disease. As a child she was sent to an orphanage run by the Good Shepherd Sisters. She experienced a lot of pain in her life, but she was pious and had great faith in God, who she called "Holy God". Her desire to receive the Eucharist was very strong and the nuns at the orphange petitioned the bishop so that she could have her First Communion at the age of only 4. Her story inspired Pope Pius X to lower the age of First Communion for Catholics everywhere. --- Wikipedia: "Ellen Organ (August 24, 1903 – February 2, 1908), known as Little Nellie of Holy God, was an Irish child, venerated by some in the Roman Catholic Church for her precocious spiritual awareness and alleged mystical life. Particularly dedicated to the Eucharist, the story of her life inspired Pope Pius X to admit young children to Holy Communion.
