Trust is rising in Cambodia’s fisheries sector. Before the Cambodia Quality Seal (CQS), uneven safety practices limited confidence and blocked access to premium markets. With support from the EU‑funded CAPFISH‑Capture: Post-harvest Fisheries Development project, implemented by UNIDO and the Fisheries Administration (FiA), auditors were trained, facilities assessed, and processors coached to meet international standards. As FiA’s Dr. Chamnan explains, CQS is Cambodia’s first food‑safety certification scheme for fisheries—a commitment to safe, high‑quality products. Certified processors like UNICA and Home Taste Foods proudly display the seal, while auditors highlight the improvements in hygiene and traceability across enterprises. CQS is more than a certificate, it’s progress for Cambodia’s fisheries, with strong potential to replicate across other food sectors. This story is part of the CAPFISH-Capture: Post-harvest Fisheries Development Project, funded by the European Union (EU) and jointly implemented by the Fisheries Administration (FiA) and UNIDO.
