Date filmed: Tuesday the 30th of January 2024 Video filmed at 14:45 Route: The Pontefract Line Between Whitley Bridge and Hensall Stations Crossing type: Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC) Location: A645 Weeland Road, Hensall Trains featured: 66 020 (DB Cargo UK) - 0:51 6D19 Drax Power Station ➡ Milford West Sidings | 41 minutes early! An automatic level crossing found on a very busy and HGV-frequented road between Eggborough and Hensall, Yorkshire. It's the busiest crossing for road traffic in the area by far, yet seems to be the only public highway crossing that has evaded any conversion during re-signalling, and it still has half-barriers and rather unsuspectingly quiet alarms. In the not too distant future, though, this level crossing is planned to be fully-renewed and converted to have full barriers, though when exactly this will happen is not known yet. A Class 66 hauling some 'Inter Bulk' containers with containerised flyash can be seen passing towards Milford West Sidings in this video, not too long after it left Drax Power Station some 41 minutes early. It only had a fairly short journey towards Milford West Sidings, a few miles west of Selby, via some lines which see only sparse passenger services, so was likely just allowed to run whenever it was ready. This isn't too unheard of when there are no passenger services in the area which could be impeded by it. Train details sourced from: Real Time Trains: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sear...
