Drove almost 4 hours to get to a hotel in Hainburg an der Donau close to Slovakia border. Nice lady at the front desk let us check-in. Afraid of parking price and uncertainty in Vienna we decided to take a train but turned out the train is more expensive. Too late to turn back since the first stop that my daughter eager to see, Justizpalast closes at 3:30 and is closed for weekend. Rushed to the courthouse in time but we didn't know they let in only 25 people in the building every hour and last admission is 2:30. So disappointed especially my daughter. Turned around and walked through Hofburg, Heldenplatz, Sisi museum, Michaelerplatz, all the way to our next stop, Austrian National Library, Prunksaal der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek - entrance fee seemed too much. The interior decorations just out of this world. Lots of photos taken but too many people crammed into limited space. Overall amazed by the paintings, sculptures, ancient books and its atmosphere that gives you feeling like you're in a royal library. Akakiko Sushi was our choice for simple Ramen dinner. Not a bad place for quick and delicious Ramen. Time for boosting up Christmas spirits at nearby Christmas markets. Walked along Graben and Kärntner Strasse. Another photos of Wiener Pestsäule, the iconic landmark in Vienna. Another visit to St. Peter's church, Peterskirche - Baroque masterpiece right in the city centre off Graben strasse. Walked through Stephansplatz and went inside another church, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Domkirche St. Stephan - Medieval Roman Catholic Church. Outstanding landmark in Vienna, must-see cathedral when you are here. There was Christmas concert so we couldn't walk deep inside. We walked back to Café Central whose line-up was too long when we were there in the afternoon. Waited only about half an hour. Amazing place for cup of coffee or cakes after dinner. Listened to the soft Christmas music live played by old gentleman's piano. Interior decorations may compete with palaces.
