Got up early in the morning to go back to downtown Innsbruck to see Golden Roof and Colorful Houses again in the daylight since we didn't see them clearly yesterday due to darkness. Different day comes with different feel about the city. Beautiful morning breeze touches our face as if it's telling us we made a good choice. Bit of emptiness in usually busy streets caresses early birders, local commuters, even handsome garbage collecting men with good reminder that another perfect day has just been dawned. Now the true color of Golden roof, Goldenes Dachl clearly visible under the morning sun. Cars carrying busy local commuters from north side of the city honk at somewhat careless tourists crossing the intersection too busy admiring beauty of the river side community waking up from slumber, where colorful houses all working together reflecting morning sunshine across the river. Time to wrap up and move on. Salzburg - our second time visiting this historical city, dropping by just to taste the Christmas spirit. Parking in Parkhaus was a God-given choice which lead us through nice tunnel under Mönchsberg. Walked straight to Franziskanerkirche - baroque style simple interior with bright finishes will surely touch your heart. Short walk to Mozarts Geburtshaus on the famous Getreidegasse. As usual full of people everywhere. Determined to see Salzburg Cathedral, Dom zu Salzburg this time and headed there. Long line-up means something's cooking, well there's Christmas concert so the ticket was more expensive. No choice. All my family members reluctant so I was the only one. Inside already packed with people waiting calmly for the concert to start. Walked all over the place to see the details of the Cathedral, but no guts to dash in the middle of the corridor to look up the dom in the middle of the concert. Worth the extra cash for the Christmas concert? Not sure. I was just a little disappointed since I couldn't see some of the interiors because of the concert. Second visit to the city, excitement diminished along with it so we decided to hit the road for Hallstatt. Hallstatt - drove here before during high season and no parking means no tours. Winter scared crowd away, the parking available plentiful. Not much crowd but still noisy tourists all around. Sorry for local residents who live through this hellish chatty tourists every day. Clear day but too much contrast around lake due to dusk. Village seems small but it takes a bit of walking due to its long layout parallel to the lake. No need to rely on google map. Crowd always lead you to the spot. Lots of photos with small change of angle. Like always we stepped into church, Evangelische Pfarrkirche Hallstatt - tiny but this is the symbol of the village. And beautiful market place, Marketplace Hallstatt - nice place for people watching and seeping coffee. Following crowd, we got to this panoramic viewpoint, Aussichtspunkt Hallstatt - this is the spot where the famous Hallstatt postcard photo must be taken. Huge sign overhangs the narrow street reminding tourists that it was used to be small quiet village where people live their lives but lots of people take photos while talking loudly as if to say mouth does the job not fingers. Without a doubt it's pretty small village but I don't really fully grasp the hype and publicity. Nonetheless we enjoyed walking along the lake taking in beauty this small village has to offer and had some cold wine and some hot drinks, sometimes feeding swan couple, did some souvenir shopping, relaxing on the bench by the lake but the exaggerated publicity comes with hefty price tag. Originally we liked to have sit-in dinner before moving on but just drove away and had really nice dinner in a hotel restaurant. #travel #walking #austria #innsbruck #salzburg #hallstatt #dji #djiaction4
