Gunman arrested in Salford after shooting sparks STAND-OFF with Armed Police

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting on a residential street in Salford. Police were called to St Joseph's Drive in the Ordsall area just after 8.15pm on Sunday evening (February 1) following reports of a shooting. Armed officers then descended on the scene where a 'prolonged stand-off' took place. A 36-year-old man was 'safely detained' before being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear. He has been taken into custody for questioning. The Manchester Evening News understands that no-one was hurt in the shooting. Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation.
