The West Asia conflict continues to escalate with major geopolitical and economic consequences across the world. The United States has reportedly reached out to India, urging it to continue purchasing Russian oil to help ease pressure on global energy markets, according to U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Meanwhile, a Pakistani national with alleged ties to Iran has been convicted in the U.S. for plotting to assassinate Donald Trump and other American leaders. Amid the conflict, domestic LPG prices in India have been increased by ₹60, while commercial cylinders have become costlier by around ₹115. Global markets have also been shaken, with Brent crude oil crossing $93 per barrel for the first time in nearly two years. On the military front, massive U.S.–Israeli airstrikes targeted Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, with reports of aircraft burning on the runway. U.S. forces claim they have struck more than 3,000 targets inside Iran as part of the ongoing campaign. In a related development, the Iranian naval ship IRIS Dena had reportedly sought shelter near India before being sunk by U.S. forces. Days earlier, another Iranian vessel, IRIS Lavan, was permitted to dock at Kochi port. Amid rising tensions, Trump has demanded “unconditional surrender” from Iran, saying that no deal is possible as the conflict deepens.
