I begin with the original Black Orpheus melody as an introduction — letting the theme speak in its pure form. From there, the piece opens into improvisation. I borrowed a few phrases from Paul Desmond’s album Take Ten — small fragments, subtle ideas. I sipped from his language with gratitude. His lyrical approach to space and tone has always felt intimate and restrained. Jim Hall’s presence is equally important. His classic solo work with Desmond shaped the harmonic atmosphere of this version. I touched a few of his ideas as well — but the main direction of the improvisation is my own response to the theme. The goal was not to recreate, but to continue the conversation. Guitars used in this recording: • Fujigen MFA Jazz (hollow body) • Morris TG-60 Groovin’ nylon A tribute to a melody that carries both celebration and loss. The melody is known as “Manhã de Carnaval” (Black Orpheus), composed by Luiz Bonfá with lyrics by Antônio Maria for the 1959 film Black Orpheus. The film, directed by Marcel Camus, retells the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. In the story, a man falls deeply in love, only to lose the woman he cannot bear to live without. He refuses the finality of death and descends into darkness searching for her — a modern Orpheus in the streets of Brazil. The music carries both celebration and tragedy: Carnival brightness on the surface, longing underneath. #jazzguitar #chordmelody #jazzstandards #rahatlatıcı caz gitar #jazzguitarcover #jazzguitarimprovisation #cazgitar #cazgitardersi #Cazgitarbaslangic#jazzguitar #chordmelody #jazzguitarcover #solojazzguitar #jazzstandard #jazzguitarsolo #cazgitar #cazgitaryorumu #cazgitarcover #cazgitarsolo #cazgitaröğren #guitarjazzstandard
