I could not decide between doing either the Boss Rush or redo the bosses and catching new monsters first. In the end, I picked the latter, due to the risk that the latest patch might have had some bugs. And you know what? I guessed correctly. For a couple of hours earlier today, the Abyssal Colossus Boss was bugged and could start the fight awake. I was not sure whether to publish the entire run or just the Boss fight only. To me, the most interesting stuff here happened right near the end of the run. I was trying out a new strategy idea I came up with. I also found one bug at the same time :) The run started out somewhat poorly. I got the Glowtongue, who is one of my favorites (constant pinging for 1 dmg). I got a little carried away with the freshly unlocked Xerododo, as my secondary monster. I was overly optimistic about being able to carry him all the way to the end. There is a high chance I did not play Xerododo correctly, but this does not change the fact this monster's abilities and moves are at odds with each other. After playing with it and figuring out what I could have done better, I think I got the intent behind this monster. If my 'guess' is correct, then this monster is still at the bottom of the tier. Xerododo seems to 'peak' during battle 3-5. During these battles, you can have two Xerododos ramming for 3 damage each into the opposing monsters. This requires having an empty slot, so that your two Xerododos can act first. Maybe they can finish off an otherwise faster enemy or damage it before the capture. I will give Xerododos another chance later, but for now, I will not bother. I tried to gamble by grabbing Chichuya, just in case I find the Golden Syringe later. However, I was forced to use it as a meatshield, due to getting a very bad attack pattern from the enemy Alpino boosted by Pheromones. Normally, that monster was supposed to pick his top move most of the time. This Alpino was dead set on using his mutated priority move instead. As you can imagine, Xerododo was effectively useless against an enemy who was both faster and had a priority too (if both monsters have priority, the one with higher initiative acts first). Later on, I regretted spending the Berry food on Chichuya, because it limited my other capture options later in the run. The highlight of the early game was the Monomono, who opened the gates for stacking the Glowing Substance. I made a huge error during the 3rd battle. I forgot to take the enemy Crafting ability into the account and was 1 damage short of finishing enemy Gumursa, in a clean way. I was supposed to use a monster that would match his initiative. Had I done that, the enemy would have acted first and wasted his 1 point of healing from his ally. You could lose a run with errors like that. It is like a reverse snowball. I took enough damage that I felt forced to capture the Lily Goose and start healing with it. This increased the duration of the run. I really hated the way the enemy Nostropea decided to start with the Growl move, during the 5th battle. I took the easy way out, and used my Implosion monster to solve the problem instantly. I was also hoping I might run into the Monster Revive event later. This Aberration was nothing special. I picked the 7/7 statline, because it matched the stats of the Eye of the Abyss boss and his Abominations. Hypersimulation ability was the highlight. It let me farm as many consumables or even rares moves of my teammates as I wanted to. Farming consumables probably took 15-20 minutes of the run. When I saw the Meatgrazer enemy, I looked at his two moves. Malediction could ruin opposing monsters with random curses. The Impediment had the power to block the last used move, by the opposing monster. I needed to capture and win with this monster anyway, so I said to myself; 'why not try to finish the run in an unusual way?'. Well, you can find the results below or in the video. During the Boss fight, I planned to check for 2 things: 1. How effective the Impediment move can be? 2. Reinvigorate & Clone move combo The Impediment move could disable the last move the enemy used. By combining the Impediment and the Hypersimulation & Reinvigorate, I disabled all moves of the boss. He was helpless. I also got a confirmation after the run, that this unusual 'status' cannot be cured. I am not sure how would that work vs resurrected targets. I imagine, the game would treat them as new entities. Either way, I plan to use the Impediment move again vs other bosses. Being able to disable the Time Paradox of the Former Pioneer looks good to me. Unfortunately, this Reinvigorate & Clone idea failed. The Reinvigorate' charge was spent the moment one of my Aberration used it. Doing so caused the other cloned Aberration to lose his own Reinvigorate at same time. I reported this bug and got the response that this interaction did not work properly.
