#med (Music.Every.Day) This is video #798 of my video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of NEW piano music every. single. day! Today's piece is "Morning Dance" by Jay Beckenstein. This arrangement can be found in Hal Leonard's collection of Jazz Piano Solos in the volume called "Smooth Jazz". This collection of jazz arrangements was written by Brent Edstrom. Just taking a little break from Big Band music. I didn't realize I had TWO collections: one called "Smooth Jazz" and one called "Best Smooth Jazz". I may have inadvertently mixed the two. But it's all good--it's all smooth! This is a lovely arrangement -- a latin jazz one -- of a nice tune. I believe I've seen the name of Jay Beckenstein in the arrangements before, but this is the first one just by him I think. He's a co-founder of the band Spyro Gyra and is known as a saxophonist. (There are a lot of little motifs that I hear in this song that are very saxophone-like).
