Genesis chapter 24 is not merely a story about marriage. It reveals how life’s most important decisions are to be placed within God’s covenant, how prayer unfolds God’s providence, and how God works through the footsteps of faithful servants. Abraham did not entrust Isaac’s marriage to human calculation, but placed it entirely within the covenant of God. Abraham’s servant prayed before the journey, at the well, and even while discerning the answer. And God— before the prayer was even finished— had already prepared the response. Rebekah’s willing service, the servant’s silent observation, the family’s consent, and Isaac’s meeting with Rebekah— None of these were coincidences. They were divine providence. At the center of this chapter stands one defining virtue: faithfulness. God builds His covenant and advances His kingdom through faithful obedience, often without spectacle, yet with perfect timing. May our own lives— our marriages, families, work, ministries, and plans— also be placed before God in prayer, trusted to His providence, and walked out in faithfulness.
