What’s in it Garlic 5-6, chopped Onion 1 large, chopped Basil leaves bunch, rough chop Basil stems, chopped Plant Protein (Beyond or Impossible) Stewed tomatoes (2 large cans) Fire roasted diced tomatoes Tomato paste 2 Tbsp Brown lentils, ½ cup soaked overnight Veggie Boullion cube Salt 1 tsp Sugar 1 tsp Gear you’ll need Frying Pan Small pot Stock Pot How to make it Lentils - Add lentils to small pot, toss in bouillon cube, top off with water. Bring to boil, then simmer for about 20 minutes. Drain, and add to cooked plant protein. Plant Protein - Over high heat, add olive oil to frying pan, add plant protein and onion, cook until browned. Sauce - Over medium-high heat, add olive oil to pot, add garlic and basil stems. Stir constantly, do not let burn. Cook until slightly brown. Drain stewed tomato juice, add tomatoes to garlic, diced tomatoes (do not drain), tomato paste, basil leaves, salt and sugar. Pulse with immersion blender until smooth. Add bay leaf. Simmer for about 20 minutes. Then, add sauce to lentils and plant protein. Cook on low for about 20 minutes. Pasta - Cook according to how you like it
