Tensions escalated at the Kinapathar Constituency of Assam's Deori Autonomous Council after a BJP MLA was allegedly caught doling out 500 rupees to voters. The incident was reported from the Panbari Navoday Kalita School voting centre, where locals accused Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan of handing out the money, apparently to influence the election. Pressed by locals who then chased after him, Bhuyan did not admit to or deny the rumours. Instead, he hastily sped away in his official vehicle while locals suspect foul play. "Many people came with the MLA and they circled him. He then sat down, and we were observing him. He was handing out Rs 500 while seated near the voting machine to two women who had come to vote. He is an MLA. Is this a thing that a person of his stature should do?" a local questioned while speaking to the media. Meanwhile, voting for election to the Deori Autonomous Council of Assam, which began on Tuesday morning, is underway at 93 polling booths in 22 council constituencies spread across six districts and four sub-divisions in the state. As many as 75 candidates are trying their luck in these elections and their political fate will be decided by over 43,000 electors. The counting of votes will be done on November 10. #EastMojo #EastStory #NorthEastIndia ***** Subscribe: / @eastmojoofficial ***** Visit our website: https://www.eastmojo.com/ Facebook: / eastmojo Twitter: / eastmojo Instagram: / east.mojo *****
